On Monday, Texas Tech University partnered with the Central Texas College District in Killeen to implement the Texas College Credit for Veterans Program established by the Texas Workforce Commission.
Lou Ortiz, the Director of Texas Tech’s Military and Veterans Program, said the university has been working on this for a couple years.
“College Credit for Heroes is actually an excellent way for Texas Tech to partner with a program designed to maximize credit for our military and veteran service members,” Ortiz said.
He added that there are a number of institutions throughout the state of Texas that are part of this program.
“This collaboration with College Credit for Heroes will produce, in the end, a transcript that’s sent to the university. The University departments for the particular degree plans will review that and decide what is applicable to that particular degree or not,” Ortiz said.
The website for veterans wanting to apply can find the website here.
The program has begun and will be available for the upcoming fall semester.
