Volunteer firefighters in Floyd County spent several hours battling a house fire in Lockney Saturday morning.
Chief Donny McLaughlin told EverythingLubbock.com his department was dispatched around 5:30 a.m. to the house fire along Farm-to-Market Road 378, just off U.S. Highway 70.
He said it took crews nearly six hours to contain the fire due to shifting winds.
The Lockney Volunteer Fire Department and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office said the home is a total loss.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire, the State Fire Marshall will be assisting in the investigation on trying to determine where the fire originated in the home.
