An arrest warrant for Jordan Michael Nokes, 25, of Lubbock was made public Monday morning. Nokes was arrested Friday for a felony charge of improper educator student relationship.
The warrant said Nokes was a coach at Coronado High School and he had a sexual relationship with a student.
On January 14, police were contacted by Lubbock ISD Human Resources. Police were provided with copies of text messages “describing a sexual relationship.”
In those same messages, the victim wanted to keep quiet about the relationship because Nokes could go to prison, the warrant said.
The warrant did not specifically say how the text messages came to the attention of LISD administration. The parents were told about the text messages on the evening of January 14.
That night the victim’s parents had a conversation with her about the texts, according to the warrant, and she admitted the text messages were true.
She agreed to provide a statement to investigators.
The warrant said after police questioned Nokes on January 14, he contacted the victim. It said he contacted her again on January 16. Her parents then asked police to stop Nokes from contacting her again.
As of Monday morning, Nokes remained in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
