Lubbock Police scheduled a 3:00 p.m. Friday press conference to talk about the arrest of a suspect accused in a series of sexual assaults and attempted sexual assaults in the Dunbar neighborhood of Lubbock.

On September 28, 2015 patrol officers took a report of a sexual assault in the Dunbar Manhattan Heights neighborhood. The suspect gained entry to the residence through a kitchen window and entered the victim’s room as she slept. The suspect then raped the victim and left the scene.
The responding officers collected evidence from the scene including suspected DNA. That evidence was submitted to the DPS Laboratory for processing. On Friday, November 13th, the DPS laboratory confirmed the presence of DNA. There were no matches.
On December 18th, detectives developed a potential suspect. Detectives made several attempts to find the suspect. They were finally able to find him and met with the suspect at his home on Wednesday, January 6th and a DNA sample was obtained and submitted to the DPS Laboratory for CODIS comparison.
Today, detectives received a report for the DPS Laboratory that indicates Tyzavier Caraway – 17 as the contributor of the DNA previously submitted. He was arrested this afternoon and has been transported to the Lubbock County Detention Facility.
