The Westwinds Brass Band, under the direction of Phil Anthony, will present their annual series of “Concerts in the Park” beginning on Sunday, June 5th, at 8:00 PM at the gazebo in Wagner Park, 26th & Flint Ave.  These free concerts will be presented on seven consecutive Sunday evenings, from June 5th until July 17th.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, and enjoy an hour of traditional brass band music presented by the musicians of the band.  Featured on the concerts will be overtures, marches, patriotic selections, music from Broadway musicals, and popular music of all types.  Outstanding instrumental and vocal soloists will be presented at each concert.  Another highlight of the concerts will be the “kids’ march”, where children of all ages will be led by the “honorary” drummajor of the evening.

The Westwinds Brass Band is also active in other summer performances, such as the First United Methodist Church’s Patriotic Concert on July 1st , the Fourth on Broadway Celebration on July 4th, and the “Roll-call letter writing program” at the Texas Tech Museum on July 9th.

The Westwinds Brass Band, through it’s activities, provides a music scholarship each year to a deserving music student at Texas Tech.
