Wichita Falls man was arrested Monday and has been charged with assaulting a public servant.
Wichita Falls Police say Demetris Pope, 18, fought with a police officer, kicking him multiple times in the head after wrestling him to the ground.
The officer was responding to reports of a burglary in progress at a house in the 13 hundred block of 12th Street. When officers arrived they say the front door to that house was kicked in and they could hear someone inside. That’s when police say they found Pope inside. But, when they tried to arrest him he started fighting.
Another officer came and was able to tase Pope and place him under arrest. The officer attacked in the incident was taken to United Regional and was treated and released for what police call minor injuries.
Pope is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.
