Wichita Falls Police say a man with a lengthy criminal record is behind bars after swinging two machetes at a group of people, injuring one person.
Police say it happened Saturday around 8 p.m., after officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Enterprise for a possible aggravated assault.
Officers were told that the Unity Christian Ministry Church was holding a function in the old Dollar General Store parking lot.
Police say witnesses told them 34-year-old Brandon Shiplet vandalized a trailer and attempted to vandalize sound equipment that was being used by the church members.
According to police, Shiplet began swinging two machetes at members of the group, striking a man on the hand, then ran away.
Authorities later found him in the 3500 block of Sheppard Access.
Shiplet is charged with three counts of aggravated assault.
The victim that was cut was transported to United Regional and treated for injuries.
Shiplet has convictions dating back to 2009 in Wichita County.
