Texas Tech(13-8, 3-6) survived an overtime thriller vs Oklahoma State on Wednesday night due to a Devaugntah Williams floater to win the game as time expired, in a 63-61 victory for the Red Raiders.

It was Williams’ only field goal of the game.

Tech previously lost three in a row and seven of their last eight.

Coming out of the final timeout in the overtime period, and tied at 61, Williams told Tech forward Aaron Ross, he was going to take the winning shot. This time, he said to Ross, he wasn’t going to miss(like he had four days earlier at Arkansas in the final moment of regulation).

Ross’ response: “You better not.”

Williams didn’t miss.

And the result is Tech’s third win in conference this year, essentially keeping them in the hunt for a postseason tourney spot.

Ross did his part too — leading the Red Raiders in points(22), hitting four critical three-point shots and going a perfect six-for-six from the free-throw line.

Toddrick Gotcher also hit four three-point’ers, all of which came in the second half or overtime. The senior totaled 18 points and, like Ross as well, went a perfect six-for-six from the charity stripe.

After a putrid first half of shooting(25%), Tech, as a team, ramped up their efforts by hitting 41% of their shots in the second half and 50% in overtime.

Tech’s largest lead of the entire game was just four points…and that was in the first half with over 15 minutes to play. Thankfully for the 8.734 in attendance on a Wednesday night: all the Red Raiders need to do is win by one.

Or two.

Texas Tech will take on Texas in Austin on Saturday afternoon at 1pm.
