Owners of Fiber Brite mote plant in Wilson share that they have plans on rebuilding, after a fire destroyed their cotton facility on Monday.

“We’ve lost 75% of our assets out here,” said Fiber Brite plant manger Mike Tomlinson. “It’ll be probably a couple of weeks, but we’ll start demolishing this building and we’re going to rebuild.”

Their last standing warehouse was destroyed from a blaze on Monday, which Tomlinson said was started from a previous fire three weeks ago.

Co-Owner of Fiber Brite Rick Thompson donated a check of $20,000 to the Wilson Volunteer Fire Department for their efforts in assisting with the multiple recent fires.

“That means a lot and that shows that they really respect our work and what we do,” said Fire Chief Craig Wilke.

The volunteer fire fighters even coming out on Super bowl Sunday when the cotton plant was hit three weeks ago.

“We respond as fast as we can,” said Chief Wilke. “That’s our number one goal to keep it in place.”

Chief Wilke said their biggest concern was making sure the fire did not spread to the community of Wilson. The fire has been contained and it will keep smoldering for the next few days.

“We can’t save it but we got to save everything around it,” he said.

Fiber Brite said they have the backing of local cotton growers and the community of Wilson to rebuild and be ready for the next cotton season.

“The Wilson Volunteer Fire Department is great they are here within minutes whenever we need them,” said Tomlinson.
