In late June, Las Brisas Southwest Steakhouse hosted its Summer Golf Classic at Meadowbrook Golf Course. The third annual event is a fundraiser that benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Organizer Tawny Westbrook said 31 teams registered to play.

“The guys that come out here, they’re just good people and when you surround yourself with good people, you’re able to do good things for more good people,” she said.

The goal was to raise $15,000 for the non-profit that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Thanks to generous sponsors* like the Reagor Dykes Auto Group, Westbrook said the goal was very much within reach.

“We’re just proud to be a part of this thing. The employees for Reagor Dykes Auto Group take great pride in working hard so we can be a part of things like this,” RDAG Sales Director Randon Blacklock said.

Joe Landin, Marketing Director for RDAG, added, “It’s a lot of people that come together to support Make-A-Wish. Every year our involvement just seems to grow because our employees also take ownership of our involvement with Make-A-Wish and we certainly appreciate that opportunity.”

A live auction was held the week prior to the tournament in an attempt to raise additional funds for Make-A-Wish. Golfers who registered to play in the Summer Golf Classic were invited to Las Brisas to participate.

“Make-A-Wish is an organization that just helps solid, good-hearted people, people that did not ask for this but need the help, and we’re here to do that,” Westbrook said.

*Organizers for the Las Brisas Summer Golf Classic would like to thank its 2016 sponsors including Stephen Hamilton of Hamilton, Hull & Rogers, Shane Byrd of Shane Byrd Law Office and National Bail Bond.
