Turning 10-years-old is already memorable but doing it on vacation in California is even more special, just ask Angele.

“It was awesome! I got a Star Wars cake,” he said.

Angele Martinez spent a week on the West Coast. For months, student athletes at Lubbock Christian University raised money for Make-A-Wish, hoping to collect enough cash to make Angele’s wish come true. In early 2016, they surprised the then 9-year-old with the news that his wish to go to LEGOLAND California was going to come true.

“Nope, I didn’t even expect it,” Angele told EverythingLubbock.com in January 2016.

In July, Angele and his family boarded a plane for California.

“We got to go on some rides, go to Sea World, look at some fish and stuff and went to the zoo,” Angele said. “We got to go on little LEGO cars.”

So what was his favorite part of the whole trip?

“All of it,” he said.
