On most weekends, ChopChop serves anywhere between 600 and 700 people. But in one weekend in April, General Manager Daniel Blankenburg said the Japanese restaurant fed 847 customers.

“We had calls (even) all day Thursday. Friday was a huge day. Saturday was very steady as well,” Blankenburg said. “It was probably one of the busiest weekends we had in a couple of months, even since we’ve been open.”

The turnout was timed perfectly. ChopChop agreed to donate 10% of its sales from Friday, April 29th and Saturday, April 30th to Make-A-Wish. After the weekend was through, ChopChop was able to present a $1,000 check to the non-profit.

“They (Make-A-Wish) were really excited about it, we were really excited about it,” Blankenburg said. “Everybody came to work ready to work those days and excited!”

The event was so successful that ChopChop is already looking for ways to partner with Make-A-Wish in the future.

“Beyond just monetary donations but maybe having this be a place where wishes are granted, bringing kids in to do art projects, just different ways for us to connect,” said Blankenburg.

ChopChop is located at 7320 Milwaukee Avenue. You can find more information about the restaurant on its Facebook page by clicking here.
