Alliance Federal Credit Union has donated more than $6,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The money was raised at the end of 2015 through a program called Skip-A-Pay.
“It’s to help people in the holiday season when they’re out there, they’re trying to pay their bills, do different things and have Christmas and so we give them the opportunity to skip-a-pay and then pay the first part in the following year,” Scott Rose said.
Rose is the CEO of Alliance Federal Credit Union. He explained that the Skip-A-Pay program not only provided the credit union’s customers a chance to miss a payment without penalty, but it also raised money for a deserving non-profit.
“We think Make-A-Wish has a legitimate purpose. It has a great mission. It’s out there helping kids. We like to help kids. Certainly we want to help anybody, but helping kids is a very, very dear thing for Alliance Federal Credit Union,” he said.
In 2014, the credit union donated about $4,300 to Make-A-Wish through the Skip-A-Pay program. It costs, on average, about $9,000 to grant one child his or her wish. Combined with its most recent gift, Alliance Federal Credit Union has given enough to make at least one wish come true.
