A Lubbock photographer has once again offered his talents to help Make-A-Wish’s annual fundraising gala look its best. Cj Duncan Photography hosted a photo session for Brynne Bigham, the Post girl selected to be the Starlight Dancer at April’s Waltzing for Wishes gala. The photos, taken by Cris Duncan, will appear in the event’s program.
“Some of these kids spend day to day in the hospital or going back and forth to doctor’s appointments and they may never feel their prettiest or their best, you know, especially if they’ve got scars or needles or whatever stuff in them. This gives them a chance to really go all out,” Duncan explained. “It’s really fun, it’s a great experience. I feel like we probably get more out of it than the kids do.”
For the last several years, Duncan has also provided the program pictures for the “celebrity” dancers. The four men and four women are selected by Make-A-Wish and paired with professional dancers to perform during Waltzing for Wishes.
“The theme this year is kind of old Hollywood. We got a makeup artist in here and they’re getting dolled up and we’re doing some great portraits of the girls,” Duncan said. “We’ve been blessed in our business and what we’ve done and you know, I think we have to give back and Make-A-Wish is a great organization for sure.”
Waltzing for Wishes will take place on Saturday, April 23rd, 2016 at the Overton Hotel. For a behind the scenes look at the portrait experience provided by Cj Duncan Photography, watch the associated video.
