The Chi Omega lodge at Texas Tech University was transformed for one night into an art studio. Paint, brushes and canvas panels covered the back patio as sorority members helped Make-A-Wish kids create one-of-a-kind artwork.
“Right off the bat, a lot of people were willing to help just because it is for a good cause and we do love Make-A-Wish so much,” Caroline Wislar explained.
Wislar is a member of Chi Omega and helped to coordinate the event. Children with life-threatening medical conditions, who have had their wishes granted by Make-A-Wish, were invited to the lodge to show off their creativity. Once completed, each piece of artwork will be auctioned off at Make-A-Wish’s annual fundraising gala, Waltzing for Wishes. All of the money raised will go toward granting future wishes.
“It’s nice to see our work paid off and not just raising money and donating it but actually going out and helping the kids and hanging out with the kids,” Wislar said. “We do give back to the community and it’s not just because we have to but because we really like to.”
