It has been a busy summer for new Texas Tech Men’s Basketball Head Coach Chris Beard, and today he spoke about replacing what was lost from last season’s NCAA Tournament team.
Those replacements included a pair of Junior College All-Americans, Niem Stevenson and Shadell Millinghaus. The Red Raiders also added two graduate transfers in Anthony Livingston, an All-Sun Belt performer, and Quinnipiac’s Giovanni McLean.
Today Coach Beard talked about the difficulty of piecing together the new and the old, “that’s the challenge, that’s the day to day work here, just like everyone in college basketball is putting together a team”.
Despite the new faces Tech returns the likes of Aaron Ross, Zach Smith, Justin Gray and Keenan Evans. All four were big contributors in the Big 12, with Ross leading the team in points per game during conference play.
Coach Beard acknowledge that creating a team was a process, “the next step is putting the pieces together into a team that can play together, I’m excited about our returning players which is half our team and then guys we’ve been able to recruit”.
With the season far from starting, Texas Tech hopes to come together and repeat the success of last year’s team.
