Wolfforth Fire Department Thanks the Community for the Support

The Wolfforth Fire Department thanked the community for the support and assistance in helping to get some of the nicest equipment in the area.

“We’ve got two engines. We’ve got two tankers. We’ve got two ambulances and a hazmat response vehicle,” Deputy Chief Lance Hamilton said.

The volunteer Wolfforth fire department started in 1954; in 2007 it it became a combination of both paid and volunteer firefighters.

Today, there’s 52 men and one woman on the roster covering 88 square miles and doing more for the community than just fighting fires.

“They will go out and do civic duties for the fire academy which also helps our community, you know meals on wheels or whatever charity they want to raise money for,” Hamilton said.

Firefighter Lee Oles said the attitude of all the firefighters is the same, put others before yourself.

“It takes away from our family and stuff, but also there’s somebody that needs us and we got to go.  … Somebody’s got to do it and that’s what we do,” Oles said.

“We want to thank the community especially the citizens here in Wolfforth,” Hamilton said. “It’s through their graciousness and the graciousness of the city council that we have some of the nicest equipment around.”
