An Odessa woman, Michele Thompson, 32, was arrested following a traffic stop Thursday night in the 100 block of East 42nd Street. Police said the license plate belonged to a 1997 Lincoln 4-door, but she was driving a Tahoe.
Officers noticed a white substance inside Thompson’s mouth and asked her to spit it out. However, police said she quickly began to chew it in an attempt to get rid of it.
Thompson later told officers that she had chewed on Xanax because she didn’t want to go to jail. But she went to jail anyway on a third degree felony charge of tampering with physical evidence.
