Levelland Police said a woman died after she was found in the roadway of Highway 385 Thursday night. 

“…Police officers were dispatched around 10:30 pm … to the 400 block of North 385 in reference to an injured person,” Levelland Police said in a written statement.

Police said, “She was breathing but unresponsive.”

EMS took her to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock where she later died.

Police told EverythingLubbock.com that no one was available Friday afternoon to take a phone call on the matter. 

KLVT radio reported on its website that the case was a “suspicious death.”

“[Officers] have no reason for why the lady was in the roadway and no word on what caused her injuries,” klvtnews.wordpress.com reported.

The woman’s name and age were not yet released.

The Levelland police officers were dispatched around 10:30 pm on 4/13/2017 to the 400 blk N 385 in reference to an injured person. Upon arrival officers discovered a female laying in the roadway. She was breathing but unresponsive.

She was given medical treatment by Levelland EMS and transported by EMS to Covenant Hospital in Lubbock. Officers continued to process the scene and were later notified that the patient had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by Covenant (Lubbock) hospital staff.

Incident is currently under investigation by the Levelland Police Department Criminal Investigation Division.
