Women in Service Panel to Discuss Roles of Women in the Military

The Cross-Cultural Academic Advancement Center and Texas Tech Women’s Studies will host the first Women in Service Panel from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday (March 30) in the Matador Room of the Student Union Building.

The purpose of the program is to provide a platform to discuss factors pertaining to the shifting roles of women in the military through dialogue aided by a panel of professional leaders currently employed in the armed services.

Both men and women will be included on the panel to allow attendees to receive a comprehensive understanding of the many viewpoints regarding the topic.

“Women in Service was created to teach students how to communicate efficiently and help prepare them for a diverse global society with a heavy focus on career skills,” said Keanu Ramos, coordinator of the Division of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement. “Students will leave with an increased awareness of women’s roles in these areas, a more positive self-image and self-worth and a new development skill set as a positive service provider.”
