Motorists traveling US 84 (Clovis Highway) this week should expect several traffic changes as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) continues work on a $8.36 million project to make roadway improvements to more than five miles of US 84, from Loop 289 to Loop 388 in Shallowater.

Beginning today [Monday], crews will start work to mill and repave the area between Slide Road and Loop 289. This work will require crews to reduce US 84 traffic to one-lane in each direction and close access from Slide and Quaker Avenues onto US 84; the intersections will reopen overnight. Motorists will need to follow the detours put in place to connect with US 84 but are urged to find an alternate route around the work area.

During this time, the Loop 289 frontage road (Landmark Lane), north of US 84, at the Texas Parks and Wildlife complex will also be closed to traffic.

The daytime closures and work will continue throughout the week and will take place weather permitting.
