The West Texas Growers and Producers Association has announced its first Farm Fresh Food Frenzy, an event to highlight area produce, meat, egg and cheese farmers, as well as local foods and food makers.
The event will be held at Jaybirds RV Adventures (467 Highway 62) in Wolfforth on May 7, from 9 am to 2 pm.
“Local families are looking for better food for their table, and we as an association of farmers and food makers need more opportunities to sell our products, and the Farm Fresh Food Frenzy is designed to provide menu makers a chance to pick up fresh foods to take home to their families, learn about the local food economy and let the Lubbock area see that there are far more opportunities in this area than it might seem”, says Wolf Kuhlemeier, president of the WTGPA.
The WTGPA will use the event as an education, promotion and membership drive, while producers and providers offer their products for sale to the general public.
“The Frenzy is in addition to the South Lubbock Farmers Market,” Kuhlemeier continues, “and is all about food, and as the WTGPA grows with new and beginning members, this market can be expanded to other days of the week and perhaps more locations to help Mom or Dad pick up better last minute dinner makings than the current options so many of us rely on.”.
The South Lubbock Farmers Market is open to the general public and located on the south access road of the Brownfield Highway. Vendors can sell to chefs, other WTGPA members and handicapped market goers fifteen minutes prior to market hours, both at the Farm Fresh Food Frenzy and on regular market days; Tuesdays from 4-7 pm.
The WTGPA is also accepting new members for the association, the Frenzy and the market. All interested parties can contact the WTGPA at 806.773.7084, their Facebook page or through the association website at WTGPA.org.
