The final evaluation of the Cowboys 2016 Draft will come down to nerve: The nerve of the Dallas Cowboys and the nerve of linebacker Jaylon Smith of Notre Dame.

Smith has a serious knee injury. He tore is ACL, LCL & has nerve damage in his left knee. Despite the injury, the Cowboys decided he’s a good linebacker prospect, perhaps the best player in the Draft, the Cowboys rolled the dice selecting him in the second round.

Ezekiel Elliott is their top pick. What the Cowboys did in the third and fourth round, with Maliek Collins and Charles Tapper are going to help the defense, but the final evaluation of this Draft is going to come down to will Jaylon Smith play?

Will he play this year? Will he be able to play next year? The outcome is dependent on whether his nerve regenerates and he gets back to the player he was at Notre Dame.

You can give all the grades you want, but it will be incomplete until the final word on Jaylon Smith.
