The Dallas Cowboys are tied with the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers for the most playoff appearances in NFL history, 32.
This Sunday, Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott make their first postseason appearance with America’s Team.
For just the third time in NFL history, a team will start a rookie quarterback and running back in the postseason.
Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott join Andrew Luck and Vick Ballard of the Colts and Robert Griffin, III, and Alfred Morris of the Redksins.
Elliott is not taking his first season success for granted.
“You definitely have to appreciate it. This is Darren McFadden’s first time playing in a playoff game and he’s been in the league nine years. You never know when you’re going to be in this position, so you have to maximize your opportunities,” Elliott said.
McFadden also reflect on this same thought.
“Me and Dak were joking about that last week. I was telling him its been nine years and this is my first one. He had to joke this is my first year and its my first one. It’s definitely hard to come by. I’m just glad to be in this position to go and play in a playoff game,” McFadden said.
As for Prescott, he hopes to join just six quarterbacks in NFL history to win their postseason NFL debut.
“You’ve got guys who’ve been around awhile that haven’t won many games in the playoffs or go so you know it’s hard. Ray Lewis came and shared his story and for him to talk about his two chances and how long a time there was between and how tough it was, there’s nothing given in this league,” Prescott said.
The Cowboys play this Sunday in Dallas at 3:40 p.m. against the Green Bay Packers.
