For the third time in 13 months, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers delivered a Hail Mary against the Giants in the wild-card round.
One of the most exciting plays in sports can shift momentum or decide the outcome of a game.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett says the Packers execute the play as well as any in the league, but his team will be prepared.
“It’s one of those plays you say ‘oh we really need to practice this again?’ and we say yes. There are a lot of details that go into that play on both sides of the ball,” Garrett said during his Thursday morning press conference.
Cowboys safety Byron Jones says it really comes down to teamwork on the long bombs.
“There is only one player tracking the ball and that is the jumper. Everyone else is boxing out, getting a body between their man and the ball,” Jones said.
It’s almost like a basketball play.
“Really getting a body on a body and blocking them out like you would in basketball. And then each of the guys on our team have a job within that. We work very hard on the details and coaching the details.” Garrett said.
It may just be those details which decide which team advances to the conference championship.
The Cowboys play Sunday at 3:40 p.m. against the Green Bay Packers at home.
