There’s a lot of chatter the Dallas Cowboys could take a quarterback with their first round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

History shows the Cowboys won’t draft a quarterback in the first round. In the 55-year history of America’s Team, only three times have the Cowboys taken a QB during the first round.

Craig Morton – 1965
Troy Aikman – 1989
Steve Walsh – 1989 supplemental draft

This year’s top prospects at quarterback are Carson Wentz of North Dakota State and Jared Goff of California. Memphis QB Paxton Lynch also has a shot to be taken on the first day.
