Back in 2014, Dez Bryant was on the losing end of the biggest ref calls in recent playoff memory.
“It was devastating. It ended our season,” Bryant recalled.
The Cowboys offensive coordinator said it was a heck of a play.
“Shoot, it’s one of the greatest plays that wasn’t, but that’s the game,” Scott Linehan said.
The 2014 season ended with controversy for the Dallas Cowboys.
A 4th & 2 pass to Dez Bryant appeared to produce a Cowboys first down and likely led to the Cowboys taking a lead late in their playoff game with the Green Bay Packers.
Instead, it went down in Cowboys history as “the catch-no catch” when the call was overturned and ruled an incompletion.
It’s a play Bryant would rather not discuss.
“That was 2014. There is no extra motivation. If there is any motivation, it’s just prepare better than the last time,” Bryant said.
He will tell you though, that he made the catch and he’s still amused by fans still mentioning it daily on social media.
“Still to this day they be like ‘it’s January blah, blah, blah 2017 at 3:29pm and I just want the world to know that Dez Bryant still caught it.’ It be funny,” Bryant said.
The Dallas Cowboys play at home against the Packers at 3:40 p.m. this Sunday.
