If someone on Vince Lombardi’s staff had proposed the players skip practice and do yoga instead, they probably would have been looking for a new job.
But, it’s 2018 and yoga is now a part of the Dallas Cowboys’ training camp routine, and it appears it’s here to stay.
“I’ve never done it,” says offensive lineman Zack Martin. “Actually, it was pretty good stretching and getting a little stretch in the off day.”
Center Joe Looney says he enjoys the new workout.
“I hadn’t really picked it up too much,” says Looney. “But, I mean, I loved it.”
Even though Looney loves it, would it ever get to the point to where he was leading the yoga class?
“Oh, man, if it gets to that point, I mean, that’ll be unreal,” says Looney.
So, you may be asking yourself, “What do other players think of Looney becoming a yoga instructor?”
“I’d definitely take a Joe Looney class, yeah,” says defensive end Tyrone Crawford.
“He’s very nimble on his feet,” says Martin. “It doesn’t look like it by the naked eye, but he can get down there and he’s pretty nimble.”
Although Looney is surprisingly pretty flexible, he says he still has a long way to go until he’s able to get his legs over his head.
“We’re still light years away from that right now,” says Looney. “But, hey, you never know. Miracles happen.”
