Dak Prescott will most likely take the first series this Thursday night against the 49ers, then take a seat.
After that, say hello to some young guns trying to make their way in the NFL QB world.
It’ll be the young quarterbacks getting the majority of playing time Thursday night against San Francisco. So just what will the offensive coordinator be looking for?
“You want to see the demeanor, I guess,” said Scott Linehan. “There’s so many things that go with it other than the plays and execution. How’s he running the huddle? What’s his command at the line of scrimmage? Is he making the proper identifications? Is he doing it with confidence?”
Mike White is one of the young guns who will be under scrutiny. So how does he feel going into Thursday?
“I feel like I’m pretty prepared,” he said. “I mean, that’s kudos to Coach Moore and Coach Linehan and Coach Garrett getting all the young guys ready. I think we’ve gotten a good amount of reps and, more importantly, a good amount of non-scripted reps where we just put the football down and play football. So, I think that helped prepare all of us, and I think we’ll be ready to roll come Thursday.”
Dalton Sturm is also looking forward to his chance to shine.
“Yeah it’s going to be awesome,” he said. “I can’t wait for the experience. I’m just going to be ready for my name to be called, and if it does, I’m going to go out there and play.”
Cooper Rush is the veteran of this group behind Dak Prescott, as he has a full year under his belt in the NFL.
He has all this knowledge that he built up during the course of last season, that he really didn’t get to use. Now we’ll see how far he progressed.
‘That’s kind of what the mojo mood is,” Rush said. “You sat for a whole year, kind of learn how the NFL plays, how the defense is played, learn our stuff, our scheme. I’ve been executing in camp and now I get to do it against a real team.”
It may be just a preseason game, but it’ll feel like a super bowl to those young QBs.
