NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — With hundreds of thousands of fans expected to embark on the Music City for the NFL Draft, Nashville needs help and lots of it.
So, they’re drafting 1,500 volunteers.
To sign up, you must be 18 years or older and sign up for at least two shifts during the 3-day period.
There is also an hour and a half training session the Tuesday before the draft at Nissan Stadium. You can pick between two sessions – from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
It’s a small price to pay to be a part of something unprecedented in Nashville.
“I think it’s being a part of something in the history of Nashville,” said Nashville Sports Council President and CEO Scott Ramsey. “It’s the first time ever we’ve had the NFL draft or an event of that magnitude here so the chance to come down and be a part of it and just like a lot of our events we’ll have the marathon in the same weekend, our volunteers are really the face of Nashville. Come be a part of it. Think it’s going to be a historic weekend from a lot of blending of elements in our city and certainly it’ll be something people will be proud to be a part of and we need your help.”
It will be a busy weekend in Nashville, as it’s also the 20th anniversary of the Music City Marathon. The race will need 1,800 volunteers.
Ramsey said the city has never asked for this many volunteers on a single weekend.
“Certainly, the overlay of the weekend has created a little bit of a challenge, but we’ve had a great response. We’re still in need of some folks so if you’ve got some time and you want to come down and be a part of it, I think people that volunteer will have a memory that will hopefully be a great positive one for a lot of years.”
