#5 Texas Tech blew out Fairfield 12-1 in the first game of the Lubbock NCAA Regional.

Texas Tech will play the winner of tonight’s Dallas Baptist-New Mexico winner at 6pm on Saturday night.

Recap:

Tyler Neslony and Cory Raley accounted for the first two RBI hits in the first inning.

Michael Davis, the former Lubbock High Westerner, notched a solo home run in the second inning to stretch Tech’s lead to 3-0.

The Stags would get one run back in the third.

Tyler Floyd and Neslony once again came up big, in the fourth inning, with RBI hits to push the Red Raiders’ lead to 6-1.

Tech would add three more in the sixth frame, with the help of a wild pitch, a Raley sacrifice fly, and a sac grounder from Neslony.

Raley brought in Cody Farhat in the eighth inning to get the Matadors into double digits, 10-1.

Freshman starting pitcher Davis Martin allowed only five hits and one unearned run in his seven-inning performance.

Erikson Lanning closed out the game with the final six outs of the ballgame.
