#8 Texas Tech broke out the brooms on Sunday in Lawrence, defeating Kansas 6-3 in the series finale, en route to sweeping their second Big 12 road series of the season.
Texas Tech (37-13, 17-4) is now just one win shy of clinching at least a share of the Big 12 regular season title. with two more wins in league play the Red Raiders will win the title outright.
The sweep of the Jayhawks marks Texas Tech’s fourth Big 12 sweep this season, matching the single-season record set in 1997.
Tech junior right-handed pitcher Ryan Moseley (5-4) picked up his fifth win of the season on Sunday, behind three innings pitched in relief, while only allowing three hits and one earned run, along with two walks and one strikeout on the afternoon. Tech junior left-handed pitcher Hayden Howard closed out the contest, and picked up his sixth save of the year.
The Red Raiders got their work done early, scoring all six of their runs in both the second and third frames. Tech was led offensively by their senior first baseman Eric Gutierrez who went 2-for-4, tallying two RBI, including one homerun.
Texas Tech will be back in action on Tuesday, May 10 when they travel to play Abilene Christian at Crutcher Scott Field at 6:30 p.m. in Abilene, TX.
