The Big 12 Conference released the league’s composite schedule for the 2016-17 season Thursday afternoon.
“We are excited about the release of the Big 12 schedule. The strength of our league is like nothing else,” Head Coach Candi Whitaker said. “We are proud to be in a conference that provides elite competition, excellent venues and the best college basketball fans in the country. We are excited about our team’s progress and look forward to the challenge of Big 12 play.”
The Lady Raiders’ released the non-conference portion of the schedule in July that features two road games against SEC opponents and a trip to Miami, Fla. The conference slate features a double round-robin format for the sixth consecutive year consisting of 18 games with squads playing each other home and away. Tech opens Big 12 play at Texas on Dec. 29 before kicking off the home conference slate on Jan. 1 vs. Oklahoma State. The Lady Raiders are set to face Iowa State on Jan. 4 before heading to Manhattan, Kan., to take on Kansas State on Jan. 7.
On Jan. 11, the Lady Raiders return to United Supermarkets arena to host West Virginia before taking on Oklahoma in Norman on Jan. 14. Tech will enjoy a bye week before hosting Texas on Jan. 21.
Tech hits the road for a two games starting at West Virginia on Jan. 25 and Kansas on Jan. 28. The Lady Raiders open February with two home games against Kansas State (Feb. 1) and defending Big 12 champion Baylor (Feb. 4).
The Lady Raiders will play back-to-back midweeks on the road at TCU on Feb. 8 and at Iowa State on Feb. 15 while hosting Oklahoma on Feb. 11 and Kansas on Feb. 18.
Texas Tech will close out the road slate at Oklahoma State on Feb. 22 followed to a trip to Baylor on Feb. 25. The Lady Raiders will close out the regular season at home against TCU on Feb. 28.
The Lady Raiders open the season at home with an exhibition match up against Midwestern State on Nov. 6. The following week, Texas Tech will host North Dakota on Nov. 13.
Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Energy Arena will host the 2017 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship for the fifth time. The tournament begins March 3 with the championship game set for March 6.
New season ticket deposits can be purchased for $20 online. A Texas Tech Ticket Office representative will contact you in July with seat options, and fans will have the opportunity to take advantage of an affordable five-month payment plan. The $20 deposit will go towards the full price of a 2016-17 season ticket. Fans also can renew their season tickets or purchase season ticket deposits in person at the Texas Tech Athletics Ticket Office located on the East Side of Jones AT&T Stadium or over the phone at (806) 742-8324. Information on single-game tickets and mini-plans will be announced at a later date by the Tech Athletics Ticket Office.
