The Brownfield Runnin’ Cubs looked to win the first state in program history on Saturday, as they took on East Chambers in the Alamo Dome in San Antonio.

In the first quarter, both teams stayed neck and neck, ending the quarter tied at 16. In the second, Brownfield used a 12-0 run at the end of the half to take a 36-30 lead into the break. Jezreel Griffin was the spark plug in the first half, registering a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. The Cubs would use a 21-12 advantage in the third quarter to go on to win, 80-54 . Griffin ended the game with 39 points and 15 rebounds, while Jaelyn Nolan finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds.

The Runnin’ Cubs finish the season 32-3.
