Texas Tech sophomore Recee’ Caldwell is in pretty good company after just two games as a Lady Raider.

Caldwell followed up her 28 points in Texas Tech’s season-opening win over North Dakota with 38 points against Texas A&M Thursday.

“When her team needs her to score she will and she can and she was impressive there’s no question about that,” Texas Tech coach Candi Whitaker said. “She really took her game to another level at A&M.”

Her 38 points against the Aggies are the most by a Lady Raider since Jia Perkins scored 41 against Creighton in 2002.

“Recee’ is really talented and has the ability to really score,” Whitaker said. “She can distribute as well and I think she does a really good job with the right basketball play at the right time.”

Caldwell’s 66 total points in back-to-back games puts her in some pretty good company.

The last person to do that at Texas Tech was Sheryl Swoopes in 1993.

Swoopes scored 78 points in the two games at the Final Four in Atlanta during the Lady Raiders run to a national title.

Caldwell and the Lady Raiders host New Mexico at 2 p.m. Sunday at United Supermarkets Arena.
