It was announced Sunday afternoon that Texas Tech senior running back DeAndre Washington will attend the Reese’s Senior Bowl alongside teammate Le’Raven Clark in hopes to impress NFL scouts one last time before the NFL Draft in late April.
The game will be played at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, AL on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 1:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on the NFL Network.
In the latest mock draft by Lance Zierlein, NFL Media draft analyst, they project Le’Raven Clark to be selected No. 26 overall by the Seattle Seahawks.
This is what Zierlein had to say about the coveted left tackle:
“Clark is an ascending left tackle prospect with the elite foot quickness and length that NFL teams simply don’t pass up for very long. Clark could still use more muscle on his frame and will need to be much more consistent with his technique rather than just relying on his length if he is to reach his full potential in the pros. Left tackles with his potential in pass protection carry first round value and Clark has a Pro Bowl upside with the floor of an average NFL starter.”
As for Washington, his projection seems to be more of an uphill climb.
According to scouts the big flaw in Washington’s game seems to be his size.
Per NFLDraftScout.com via CBS Sports, they have Washington projected as a 6th Round draft pick, taken at No. 202 overall.
According to CBS Sports Dane Brugler, if Washington can find the right fit, on the right team, that will be the key to his success at the next level.
“As a pro prospect, Washington will be ignored by many due to his size, but in the right role, he might be able to have more than a cup of coffee at the NFL level,” Brugler said. “A fringe draftable player, Washington will get a chance to show he belongs in a training camp next summer.”
