Over the last 10 years in Crosby county, coach Brannon Rodgers and the Crosbyton Chiefs have set the standard for football success winning 63 games while only losing 40. The past 3 years, the team has gone a combined 31-7.
“Kids taste success and they want more,” said Rodgers. “It’s contagious and we hope that builds into the younger kids and they want to do it also.”
Over the past two seasons, the Chiefs have only made it as far as the state quarterfinals, but Rodgers feels his team can get over that hump.
“Well you know, it’s cliche to say, but you got to take it one game at a time. And with the district we’re going to be in next year, we feel like if we can compete in that district and get in the playoffs, then you can make a run because our district is going to be very, very talented.”
But for the Chiefs, probably the biggest key to their success, is that next years seniors will have seen Coach Rodgers on the Chiefs sideline since they were in the first grade.
“O it’s huge. Consistency is a big key to our success and our coaching staff has been together a long time and those kids know that we love em and they trust us and that’s a big part of it.”
