The Cooper Pirates opened their district season on Saturday with a road trip to take on Abilene Cooper.

In the first, the Pirates came out firing, loading the bases for Jay Garibay who answered with a 2 RBI single. The Cougars wouldn’t get on the board until Austin Smith hit an RBI single to make it 2-1. Each team would add another run, with the Pirates winning 3-2.

Next up for the Pirates, they will host Lubbock High on Tuesday.
