The Cooper Pirates took on Canyon Randall in the first of a best of three series on Friday night at West Texas A&M University.
The teams would exchange runs for most of the game, until Jordan Salas blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Cooper the lead for good, 17-14.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow at 1pm.
