The Cooper Pirates softball team will start district play on Tuesday with a road trip to Plainview. Last year the Pirates won the 4-5A district, but they suffered their lone district loss to the Lady Bulldogs.
This year, the Pirates are 17-2 and ready for their title defense. For head coach Landon Winton, he feels that his team should be ready to be targeted.
“There should be for a team that won district the year before,” said Winton. “I think the other teams want to go after that team that was the district champ. And you know, we expect that we’re going to get everybody’s best effort so we better bring it too.”
