To open district play, the Coronado Mustangs hosted the Tascosa Rebels on Friday night at Mustang Gym.
The Mustangs would start the scoring off with a Zach Stepp three point basket, but could never truly get comfortable, with the largest lead being only 11. At halftime, The Mustangs led 38-31, but the Rebels would charge back in the third, with both teams tied at 50 to start the final period. After exchanging buckets the rest of the way, Tascosa would come away with the 69-66 victory in the final minute.
Next up for Coronado, they will visit Frenship on Tuesday.
