In Head Coach Seth Parr’s first season at Coronado the Mustangs stumbled to a 3-7 record, but Coach Parr knew his first year was going to be a challenge.
“You know you’ve got to keep everything in perspective you know that first year coming in there’s going to be a lot of teaching a lot things going on so your wins come a little different, they might not come on the scoreboard.”
The Mustangs should be helped by a drop in classification from 6A to 5A, and welcome back a strong core of returning players.
The offensive line should be a strength in 2016, highlighted by Jaylon Thomas, and two wide receivers Noah Sifrit and Devin Morrison should make plenty of plays.
For Coach Parr, he hopes the team can finally put it all together,
“now that we know how we practice how we set things up now it’s about finishing games you know we were a lot closer in the fourth quarter in a lot of games now it’s about winning those games.”
The ultimate goal for Coronado, ending that long playoff drought.
Middle linebacker Seth Wood made it clear the team wants to get back to the playoffs “nine years without making it is tough especially when you come out here everyday and give it all you got for ten weeks then don’t get it.”
Despite the drop from 5A to 6A, Coach Parr expects the competition to be just as tough as it was last season.
