For now the fourth-straight game the Red Raiders were flagged for at least 9 penalties.

On the season, Texas Tech is averaging just under 10 flags per game, for just over 80 yards.

“I think when you look at the areas where we lost it, we’re giving up a defensive touchdown on the interception, giving up a special teams touchdown and losing the penalty battle, that’s kind of where we lost that game,” Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury said.  “Had some yards and did some good things at times but in crucial areas on the road we fell short.

In the 44-38 loss to K-State, the penalty on Tech’s junior wide receiver Dylan Cantrell for offensive pass interference even took a touchdown off of the board.

All mistakes that won’t seem to go away.

“Penalties have killed us all season, all game. We squandered drives ourselves. It’s not like other defense are really stopping us,” Texas Tech’s sophomore wide receiver Cameron Batson said. “We’ve really been stopping ourselves with penalties, making it third and 15, third and 20, and then that’s a hard position to be in. So we have to cut out the penalties and be more disciplined.”
