Brittney Martin (Oklahoma State) was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Japreece Dean (Texas Tech) picked up Freshman of the Week accolades in a vote of a media panel that covers the Conference. Martin collected her 13th career honor and eighth as player of the week, including four this season. Dean was recognized for the fifth time in her rookie campaign.
Big 12 Player of the Week

Brittney Martin averaged 25 points and 12.5 rebounds in Oklahoma State’s two victories last week while extending her double-double streak to eight-straight games. In the midweek win at No. 20 Oklahoma, Martin scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to propel OSU to its first win in Norman since 1998 and its third over a Top 25 opponent this season. In the process she became the fourth player in program history to surpass 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds for her career. Martin also added two assists, three steals and a block against the Sooners. The senior guard recorded her second 30-point outing of the year on Sunday against Texas Tech, finishing with a game-high 32 points to go with a game-best 15 rebounds. Martin connected on 11 of her 19 shots from the floor and made all 10 of her free-throw attempts against the Lady Raiders. For the week she hit .576 (19-33) from the floor and .923 (12-13) from the free-throw line.
Big 12 Freshman of the Week
Japreece Dean, Texas Tech, G, Cedar Park, Texas
Japreece Dean averaged 13.5 points last week and took over the top spot as the Big 12’s leading freshman scorer in conference-only games with a 13.8 average. She had 16 points versus West Virginia and tacked on 11 more at No. 25 Oklahoma State, going 2-5 from long range in both contests. Dean also snagged two steals in each game and went 7-10 from the free throw line, where she ranks second among Big 12 freshmen with a .800 percentage for the season. She also maintained her hold on the Big 12 freshman assist lead at 3.2 after collecting three last week.
