Former Texas Tech golfer Clement Sordet shot an opening round 75 (+4) in first round of the 2016 Open Championship on Thursday.

Sordet fired an even par (36) on the front nine, which included two birdies and one double-bogey. However, he stumbled on the back nine, shooting a four-over (39) on the back half, including two back-to-back bogeys on No. 12 and 13, a birdie on No. 14, and a double-bogey on No. 15.

Sordet will begin his second round with the first group on the course at 12:35 a.m. CT. The television broadcast will begin on the Golf Channel.

Sordet has two career Challenge Tour wins, most recently at the Turkish Airlines Challenge, where he posted four sub-70 rounds on his way to the title. Despite only being a professional for a year, he has already cracked the top 200 of the Official World Golf Rankings (197).
