Monterey hosted Frenship at Moegle Field to open up district play on Friday night.
The Tigers got off to a hot start scoring a run in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead. In the bottom half of the second, the Plainsmen would answer, when Nick Sowell grounded into a fielders choice to score Baylor Mitchell. But in the top half of the third, the Tigers would respond with 3 runs of their own. In the bottom half of the sixth, Monterey would score 3 runs to take a 6-5 lead, but of course Frenship would respond in the 7th. The Tigers would bat around and plate 10 runs to win 15-6.
The two teams will meet up again on Saturday at Tiger Field at 1pm.
