Joey Gallo is a home run-hitting former first-round pick with big expectations. Some even say he’s the future of the Texas Rangers.
He’s hit 111 home runs at the professional level over the past three seasons, but he takes nothing for granted.
“I just go out and play hard every day and try to learn from what I fail with. So I fail,” Gallo says. “Most levels I go to I fail at the beginning and I learn from that. I make my adjustments from that and I think that’s what any great baseball player has to do i s to make their adjustments and to learn from it. My year in the big leagues wasn’t great for me but it was a learning experience. I’ll definitely be ready next time I get up there.”
And he’s still overcome with joy seeing the ball go over the fence.
“Yeah! It’s always great. It’s one of the best things in sports,” Gallo says. “You get to round the bases by yourself and everyone’s cheering for you. The other team hates you. For me it’s awesome. I love doing it and hopefully I can keep doing it a little more. So it’s awesome.”
