For 12 years the Hampton family has traveled from Canyon, Texas to Lubbock, Texas to watch the LCU women’s basketball team. This may seem intense, but the family had good reason, for the past 12 seasons one of their three daughters has played for the Lady Chaps.
Their eldest daughter Jordan was the first to attend the school and started the era of the Hampton sisters. She enjoyed her time as a Chaparral and when Brittany, the middle daughter, started looking at schools LCU was at the top of the list.
Brittany gave praises to coach Steve Gomez who treated the sisters like individuals instead of lumping them together. Brittany got to play one year with her older sister Jordan, and when Brittany was a senior Nicole stepped onto the LCU court as a freshman. A year Nicole says was one of the most memorable.
Nicole recently celebrated her senior night with her mother and sister and walked off the court for her last regular season game to a crowd’s standing ovation. While the sisters time at LCU has come to an end their legacy on the program will last forever.
