Texas Tech soccer’s Jordie Harr was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week after a multi-goal performance last weekend, helping the Red Raiders to a 2-0 start to the 2016 season.

Harr’s award is the first newcomer recognition for a Red Raider since Oct. 21, 2014. It is also the 10th Big 12 Freshman of the Week award overall for Texas Tech.

In her first collegiate match, Harr found the back of the net twice, the first coming in the 59th minute against New Mexico from a free kick 20 yards away from the goal. Six minutes later, Harr did it again, this time from a tighter angle, banking her shot off the post and in to give Tech a 2-0 advantage.

Harr was the top-scoring player in the conference, tying for the lead in goals (two) and points (four) after the first weekend of competition. She completed the weekend with four shots on goal for a clip of .800.

Harr and the No. 19 Texas Tech soccer team hosts No. 20 Arizona on Friday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m. at the John Walker Soccer Complex, with a match against Northeastern to follow on Sunday, Aug. 28, also at 7 p.m.
