LUBBOCK, TX – The spring season for high school tennis kicked off with the Hub City Classic on Friday and Saturday. 250 players from 16 teams around Texas competed at various sites around Lubbock.
Three teams from Lubbock were represented. The Coronado Mustangs finished second overall, missing out on first place by only three points. The Monterey Plainsmen finished fourth overall, anchored by Kasey Heinrich’s 2nd place finish in Singles. Lubbock High finished in 9th place, but they did secure the girls double title with the win by Peyton Trebisky and Cherokee Hernandez.
Next up for Coronado, they will travel to Midland for a tournament on February 19th. The Monterey Plainsmen will take part in the Mason Tournament next week. The Westerners will be back at home on Saturday afternoon.
